OVERVIEW

Founded in 1997 in Seattle by Jason Hughes and Nabil Ayers, Sonic Boom Records started in a modest space, reflecting the founders' love for indie rock and their desire to escape conventional careers. The store gradually became a focal point in the Northwest indie rock scene, notably contributing to the success of bands like Death Cab for Cutie.

RESEARCH

Compared and contrasted different records stores throughout Seattle, Wa and American. Along with a deep dive in the brand’s history, allowing me to discover the brands deep embedded history in Seattle’s Grunge scene as staple for new and upcoming indie artists.
